Video and audio content must include text-based alternatives so all users can access the information.
- Captions: are text descriptions baked into the video, or available via a button on some web players, that show any audio events happening in the video in real time. This includes dialogue, music, and sound effects.
- Written transcript: should include speaker identification, descriptions of non-verbal sounds, visual elements, on-screen text, and context for any important actions or scenes.
- Audio-described version: provides narrated descriptions of important visual elements, actions, and scene changes, so people who are blind or have low vision can fully understand the content.
